The boys are back in town

17 05 2008

When he went to see Dr. Ronald Fairman at the University of Pennsylvania hospital on Thursday, the Flyers’ defenseman was already resigned to the fact that the blood clot in his left foot would keep him out of action for at least the rest of the Eastern Conference Final series with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Now, he is back on the ice, and could return for Sunday’s Game 5 at Mellon Arena (3:00 p.m., NBC). Timonen skated by himself and spoke with the media afterwards on Friday at the Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone.

“I went to the hospital yesterday, [and] I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t expect this news,” he said. “So, obviously, this is a good chance for me to play, and I wanted to make sure, and I’m sure everyone else wanted to make sure, that there is absolutely no danger at all.

“Like I said before the series started, it’s my dream to be able to play in this kind of situation, and now I’m back in it so it is a pretty good feeling.”

Timonen was originally told that should the blood clot break up, he could possibly face losing his toes. As it stands right now that danger is gone, but he will still have to play through some significant discomfort.

Timonen’s partner in the playoffs, Braydon Coburn, is also hoping to get back in for Sunday’s game. Coburn left Game 2 after a nasty cut near his left eye when he was struck by a deflected puck and has not played since. Coburn will also skate with the team when it resumes practice on Saturday morning before a flight later that day to Pittsburgh.

“His eye is improving. I think the swelling has gone down to the point where he can see,” said Stevens. “I think the swelling hasn’t gone all the way down, but I think he can get to the point where he can see well enough to play. Full Story

This is really great news. The chances that the Flyers have in winning Sundays game just went up at least ten times higher than they were before. Now Malkin and Crosby can be contained by two solid defence pairs in Timonen/Coburn and Hatcher/Jones (both who have really picked up their game).

Who knows, if the Flyers win Sunday’s game, anything can happen.

Movie Quotes: The Departed

Frank Costello: You do well in school?

Young Colin: Yeah

Frank Costello: Good. So did I. They call that a paradox.

Stupid commentator

11 05 2008

So I was watching Elite XC on the Fight network today, and one of the commentators made a really stupid comment. Two of the fighters went to punch each other, and one knocked the other out cold. The commentator said “I hate to say it, but he went down faster than the Titanic”. Didn’t the Titanic take like three hours to sink?

Babe Watch: Mothers day edition

11 05 2008

Is there a better way to celebrate Mothers day than posting pictures of the hottest celebrity moms out there? I don’t think so, and if you do it means your a queer.

Happy Mothers day!

Babe Watch: Bar Refaeli

Today is the start of yet another awesome segment here at DannyPress.org. Every once and a while, I will find a hot babe, and show you pictures of her. Its so simple, but so great too.

The first babe of this segmet is Bar Refaeli, who I found at SI.com, and she is super sexy. She also goes out with Leo DiCaprio. How does he keep getting these amazing women?

Hogan Jr. sentenced

10 05 2008

Nick Hogan was in court today to and pled no contest to felony reckless driving involving serious bodily injury.

Many people took the stand to speak to the court, including the family of victim John Graziano, Hulk, Linda, Brooke, Nick and the laywers from both sides. The Grazianos absolutely buried Nick while Nick’s family and lawyers went on and on about how close John was to their family and what a great guy he is.

In the end, Judge Philip Federico ruled that Nick will serve 8 months in Pinellas County Jail. He’ll also have 5 years of probation, 500 hours of community service and his license is suspended for 3 years.

Nick’s jail sentence begins today - he’ll be sleeping in a jail cell tonight.

As if the Hulkster didn’t have enough things going on with his wife already, now his blonde, 17 year old son is in jail. The lonesome inmates should be happy though.

I guess Nick will be a more cautious driver now.

Pens take game one

10 05 2008

I see a trend going on here, for some reason the Flyers can’t seem to win in the first game of the series. The worst part about game one is that they let the Penguins take the lead long before the third period, where they usually blow it.

I didn’t think Martin Biron played a bad game, but he didn’t play the was he has been playing, but every hot streak comes to an end, and I expect him to be sharp in game two. Mike Richards and Scottie Upshall played great. Richards scored both goals, and Upshall refuses to slack off, even when the win is out of reach.

Malkin is nothing but a rat, which he shows buy continually poking and slashing players from behind, which he did in game one against the Flyers and against the Rangers. I hope he has a bad encounter with Hatchenstien, which would really put him in his place.

Scoring:

Flyers: Mike Richards (2)

Penguins: Peter Sykora, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni “dick mouth” Malkin (2)

Things started to heat up towards the end, which will probably be a positive thing for the Flyers. Timonen was a big loss, and would have been a huge help on the power play and shutting down the opposition, but every team has their set backs, and the Flyers will just need to move on with out him (They pulled through without Gagne).

I am looking for Jeff Carter, Daniel Briere, and Mary Biron to step up in game two.

Lets go Flyers!

Note:

The Pens are a good team, so I thought I would put some superstitious luck on the Flyers side by pimping the blog out to a more Flyer-like theme.

Kimmo is finished

9 05 2008

For the Philadelphia Flyers, facing adversity is nothing new this season.

The club got a fresh dose of just that on Thursday afternoon, when it learned that all-star defenseman Kimmo Timonen would be lost indefinitely and likely for the entire series with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Timonen’s skills and leadership have been evident throughout the Flyers’ impressive playoff run thus far, but they will now have to deal with his loss. Full Story

This is a huge blow to the Flyers, and can really fool up some match-ups they had planned. They would have liked to have Timonen-Malkin and Hatcher-Crosby, but obviously that’s not going to happen. I think it will need to be Coburn-Malkin 100% of the time now if the Flyers want any chance of winning. Stick Jason Smith with Coburn for the remainder of the playoffs, unless Timonen comes back by some unexpected miracle.

An easy fight

7 05 2008

That sick son of a bitch I was taking about yesterday has his blog taken away from him. This doesn’t mean that he won’t do it again, or do something more drastic, but its a start.

This guy is the type of person you here about on the news that the police are trying to catch, so why not take a shot at this guy and let him be molested by a big guy named Pete and see how he likes it.

DannyPress.org is all about comedy and fun, but when sickos like this are out there for me to bitch around, that’s what I am going to do.
